Apostilles and Notary Certifications

An Apostille Seal is an additional seal required on certified records that will be presented to a

foreign government that is a member of the Hague Treaty. The seal is also required on documents

for international adoptions or for establishing dual citizenship.

To get a record with an Apostille Seal, first obtain a certified copy of the vital record from the State

Office of Vital Statistics and Registry. Indicate on your application that it will need an Apostille Seal,

and you will receive a certified copy of the vital record. You must then forward this document to the

Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services, which issues the Apostille Seal. Contact the consulate

of the country involved to determine if you need an Apostille Seal or the Division of Revenue at

Un Sello de Apostille es una estampa adicional requerida en copias certificadas de registros para ser presentados en

paises extranjeros que son miembros del Tratado de Hague. Este sello tambien es requerido en documentos de

adopciones internacionales ó para doble ciudadania.

Para obtener un acta con un Sello de Apostille, primero debe solicitar una copia certificada del registro de la Oficina

Estatal de Registros Civiles e indicar en la solicitud la necesidad de un Sello de Apostille. Recibirá la copia certificada

del registro. Usted debe enviar este certificado al Department of Treasury quien remite el Sello de Apostille. Para

determinar si usted necesita un Sello de Apostille, debe de comunicarse con el consulado del país donde enviara el

certificado o con el Departamento de Tesoro al 609-292-9292.
